RIB trip to the Folly Inn with guests
At JBT Marine, when we start working with new people we always try to introduce them to the wonderful world of RIBs (rigid inflatable boats) as soon as possible. We do this so they really understand what RIBs are all about and how versatile they are. It really helps to get hands on experience to find out what all the fuss is about!
This last weekend we had the pleasure of taking out on the boat, a new member of staff, Beverly (who will be Joining the team as from the end of July) and some of the people from “Fresh egg” (The people who help us with our Web site)
Here’s what Bev had to say about her RIB experience:
“I would like to say thank you to Jonny for inviting me on Sat, what a fabulous day we were totally spoilt by the weather!
My blog for the day would be:-
“Wow what an experience I had today. At 12.00hrs I am standing on the quayside and by 13.30hrs I am supping my first beer of the day at the Folly Inn, Cowes with my fellow crew men. With the wind in my hair and my backside leaving the ‘saddle’ what an exhilarating first experience of a Ballistic”!
Bev”
Here’s a taster:
“You might not think it but these RIB’s can hit as high as 60mph, so does that make a RIB a speedboat? Maybe not traditionally to look at, but in raw aggression these things really shift, and doing 60mph is somewhat different to doing 60mph in a car. In no time at all we were cutting a swathe through The Solent. The hazy outline of The Isle of Wight soon became clearer as the raw horsepower at one stage took us to 55mph. Jonny soon relinquished control of the RIB to Adam (our MD) who quickly found the knack of acceleration – Adam was in his element and was pushing the RIB as hard as his metal would allow him. We did hit one big wave which brought Adam’s speed rushes back down to sensible levels, in no time at all we arrived in Cowes and followed harbour route until we reached our destination point of The Folly.”
